Hilton Pattaya redefines Pattaya Beach
Hilton Pattaya opens its doors and offers much more than just relaxing on the beach
'As a popular tourist destination, Pattaya is known for its scenic beachfronts and highly charged nightlife," said Harald Feurstein, General Manager, Hilton Pattaya. "Pattaya caters to those travelling for business or leisure and in many cases guests choose to make the most of their trip to Pattaya by attending corporate events as well as enjoying the lighter, laidback part of resort life. We are confident, with the opening of Hilton Pattaya, this resort town will continue to grow as a dynamic tourism hub for all travellers."
So much for the usual hype, but the new Pattaya Hilton is certainly an unusual hotel with a difference. This is one property where the designers looked at where the hotel would be situated, found the predominant theme and carried that theme of the "Beach Experience" throughout the entire hotel.
Guests will see immediately just how this is produced by clever use of patterns in the carpets giving the appearance of gentle waves, and intelligent use of water areas around some of the bars heightening the ocean ambience. Large settees (called 'plounges') are set in the middle of these 'pools', with stepping stones leading to them. With a chilled cocktail in hand, just the ideal setting in which to watch the sun go down over Pattaya Bay and let yourself unwind.

Natural wood is used in abundance and sand colored marble maintains the effect. Even the cushions are designed to look like rocks smoothed by countless years of lapping waves. Softly draped ceilings move gently above you and you are mentally transported to your own tropical beach utopia, without even leaving the hotel.
The accommodation of 302 rooms continues the 'Beach Experience' with every room having sea views, and large free-standing soaker bath tubs with the gels, shampoos and bath oils selected by the guests. The IP TVs are 37 inch HD to maximize viewing pleasure, and of course Wi-Fi is available. Some special rooms, such as honeymoon suites even have a sunken bath on the terrace, and where better to drink that icy cold bottle of champagne than in a bath with one's partner?
It is apparent that the Hilton Pattaya is certainly somewhere for the traveler to relax. Be that the weekend traveler, or the international tourist.
To support the growing demand for quality MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) facilities and services, Hilton Pattaya has extensive banqueting, ballroom and meeting space equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The hotel boasts a 635 sq.m ballroom, with a private balcony complete with stunning views of the beach, and provides media-ready meeting rooms - furnished with ergonomic chairs, executive safes, compact refrigerators, Wi-Fi and data plugs. Those who have used the hotel's car pick-up service from Suvarnabhumi, only 90 minutes away, can also use the hotel's iPads with internet access. Business can be integrated with pleasure.
With 34 floors on top of the Central Festival Hilton Pattaya completes the 'Central Festival at Pattaya Beach' complex, now Southeast Asia's largest beachfront, lifestyle, shopping and entertainment center. The 240,000 square meter mixed-use development features an entertainment facility, a 7-floor cosmopolitan shopping mall featuring a 23,000 sq meter Central Department Store, more than 300 international retailers and several beach-themed restaurants and bars. The entertainment complex is also home to a 25 lane bowling alley, ten-screen cinema and an outdoor cinema.
But despite the Central Festival's restaurants being only one button push in the elevators away, for many guests the attractions of the Hilton Pattaya's food and beverage outlets will keep them in the hotel.
For the initial opening period, there are four main outlets, the Edge (a stylish, all-day Pan-Asian dining venue with a modern, open kitchen), Flare (a sophisticated, specialty restaurant offering quality fresh seafood and aged meats, matched with an extensive selection of fine wines), Drift (a casual, chic lobby lounge and bar featuring floor-to-ceiling glass windows and live entertainment in the evenings), and Shore (a pool bar and restaurant with an infinity pool, inviting sundecks and special landscaped gardens). The fifth restaurant which will open in early 2011 is the Horizon (an upscale, high energy, rooftop venue offering breathtaking views and featuring the latest cocktail creations alongside resident DJs). Located on the 34th level of the hotel, Horizon will offer the spectacular views of Pattaya Bay and the bustling city below.
Having personally experienced the cuisine offered in the Edge and Flare, it is obvious that the Hilton Pattaya's executive chef Supoj Suwanwong heads a top culinary team, working alongside Food and Beverage Manager, Simon Bender. With almost 20 years of culinary experience, Chef Supoj is widely recognized as one of Thailand's finest up-and-coming chefs. Chef Supoj was the creative force behind the renowned Thai Dining Theatre Venue, Maya, in Bangkok. The celebrated chef uses original and authentic dishes as a base and then adds contemporary techniques and flair, an approach that is sure to please Hilton Pattaya's sophisticated, international clientele.
Hilton Pattaya GM Harald Feurstein continued, "We are confident that even the most discerning dining connoisseurs and gourmet enthusiasts will be drawn to Hilton Pattaya's outstanding dining venues and be blown-away by the extensive range of high quality food and beverage options on offer at our hotel."
We investigated Harald's claims at dinner in the Flare restaurant, an up-market venue with just the right balance of food and wines. Sophisticated dining with 'flair', many wines available by the glass and an excellent menu focusing on seafood and aged steaks, and incidentally, the largest two person pepper grinder you will ever see. Worth the trip down to Pattaya for the culinary pleasures alone! Try the Caesar salad with prawn. Simply the best (and apologies to Tina Turner).
For a very limited time only, there are special rates available on some rooms at B. 2,000++, so be quick. This is a very different and in some ways a unique property and there is no doubting the fact that the Hilton Pattaya is a very welcome addition to the upper echelon of Pattaya hotels.
